i have had a great deal of luck in obtaining tickets to shows {music} that were previously “sold out.” [i seem to be constantly prevented from locating tickets in a more conventional way. ie: ticketmaster?] in 2010, i arrived at … Continue reading
while in amsterdam this past weekend, i was able to spend a half an hour – not nearly enough time – at the waterlooplein market. it’s a very edgy market, jam-packed with army gear / boots / jackets, bizarre piles … Continue reading
i absolutely must share this project that i have been following for about a week now. basically, two friends who both have their own relationship-related downfalls and weaknesses, have started a 40-day long dating experiment. their project website is like … Continue reading
on my way to the airport once again, only this time i’m going back to london. i’m nervous about this flight. not the flight in general . . . ok, it has a little bit to do with the plane. … Continue reading
amsterdam, you are quite pretty. with your bicycle hoards, creeping canals, and welcoming city smells, i think we could really take some time to get to know one another. i began writing this last night, the last day of my … Continue reading
it’s the sixth day of my most recent ‘seven day challenge‘ – i believe i’m due for a little recommendary, ear lovin’-type playlist of some tunes i am currently {or always} into. yesterday, i ventured to the tabernacle in notting … Continue reading
london is hot. really, hot. like, fry an egg on the sidewalk hot. {at least for london, anyway. i’m certainly not unaccustomed to these temperatures in indiana.}
in response, i took the opportunity to spend most of my day yesterday once again enjoying hampstead heath and it’s wonderful bathing ponds – this time, the guys and gals, mixed pond.
wandering the woods of the park and taking a dip in the cool water made for an incredible day indeed.
here is a great article by jasmine gardner on other ways to keep cool in the city! {i especially favor her suggestions to eat lots of ice cream and enjoy some outdoor cinema, who really needs an excuse to do either of those things?!}
“For the best ice cream in London head to Gelupo (7 Archer Street, W1, gelupo.com) or to Ruby Violet in Tufnell Park, which has homemade, organic ice creams and sorbets. Rum raisin and candied orange peel should do the trick (118 Fortess Road, NW5, rubyviolet.co.uk). The delicious Ginger’s Comfort Emporium will be at Secret Garden Party next weekend (gingerscomfortemporium.com).”
here’s to many more scorching days in london and all of the wonderful ways to spend them!
i was told, on my recent {and only} voyage to hampstead in london, that the land was originally and primarily used for pig farming. i was also informed that shortly after the pig farming-era, it was transformed into a sort … Continue reading
i’ll take this one. went on a walk and enjoyed my weekly-ish apricot pastry from café nero – by far, the best apricot pastry i have found. it’s perfectly gooey on the center and the apricot bits are sweet and … Continue reading
